Social Companion Care Washington DC
Social Companion Care Services in DC
Social companionship is for seniors or other age group of people who would like to live in their homes but need help with some of their basic and social needs and, possibly, their day-to-day living. Our goal is to enable people who require special assistance to develop the ability to live as independently as possible.
What is companion care?
Companion care is non-medical, emotional, and social support for older and/or disabled adults. Our in-home assistance includes, and is not limited to, the following:
- Socialization and entertainment
- Household chores
- Running errands, such as grocery shopping
- Transportation to appointments and other activities
- Planning and scheduling appointments and social activities
- And more!
How does companion care work?
The amount of companion care services your loved one receives is up to you and your loved one. It all depends on what they’d prefer. You can schedule a companion caregiver to come daily, to simply check in once a week, or to accommodate an appointment schedule that fluctuates.
Your companion care services can be more informal in which a companion comes by for a friendly visit once in a while to help with a few household chores, or you can arrange for a more formal, scheduled service package.
What Are Benefits Of Companion Care?
Companion care helps individuals manage their everyday lives, but perhaps the biggest benefit of companion care is companionship itself. Many of our clients live alone and are unable to leave the house without help, so our services open up a whole new world that is otherwise inaccessible to them. To combat the loneliness that often overwhelms seniors, we use conversations, walks, and games, engaging older adults and enriching their lives.
Transportation is an integral part of companion care, as driving clients to healthcare and therapy activities, local senior centers, and community events helps them stay attentive to doctor’s appointments, active, and involved.
Who qualifies for companion care?
If you’re loved one is an older adult or an adult individual who would like to remain living alone but needs help managing everyday household duties, companion care may be an excellent option. We serve clients that struggle with everything from loss of mobility to cognitive decline. And our aim is to enable them to remain in their homes.
Companion care allows you and your other family members to continue working your full-time jobs and tend to other everyday obligations while feeling confident that your loved one is safe and happy. We know you do not have time to provide transportation to appointments or social activities, and our services include not only rides, but friendly socialization and relationships as well.
